HISTORY

The Archie Family Has Been in the Sealcoating Industry for Three Generations

Archie's grandfather specialized in road construction in Niagara Falls, NY in the 1920s and eventually developed a paving company. In the 1940s, Archie's grandfather partnered with Earl Archie (Archie's father) to create some of the very first sealcoat plants. Passing down the trade to a new generation, Earl Archie then partnered with his son, Robert Archie (owner of U.S. Seal), in the 1970s. Robert Archie also opened his own company in the 1980s called Asphalt Protectors, Inc. through which he developed his Pitch Black® asphalt emulsion sealcoat formula. At the turn of the century, he sold his contracting company to focus on his true passion - licensing the Pitch Black® formula and building asphalt emulsion sealcoat plants.
